8-months-old

I know everyone says this....

I can't believe how fast this kid is growing up! I get it now. Where did the last 8 months go?! She'll be a year-old in 4 months. Wow. It's crazy how fast time flies when you're going non-stop for 8 months straight. No wonder I'm tired.

I feel so incredibly lucky that I get to be home with her during this time. Everyday is truly an adventure. Yes, some days are better than others but for the most part, Isabel is amazing. I love seeing things through her eyes. Everything is new and awe inspiring. (the remote, the doorbell, whistling) I think we lose sight of that as adults. The world can be a wonderful place.

The better to bite you with...

So, this month we hit a few big milestones: She's FINALLY sitting up, she now has 3 teeth and she took her first real crawl-y steps. Oh God...she's mobile. Let the baby-proofing begin.....

5 Things I've learned so far...

1. Our baby has fingerprints already. I'm not sure why but this freaks me out. 2. Pregnancy heartburn is NO JOKE. Before this, I think I'd had heartburn twice in my life. I'm Mexican for Christ's sake! We love our spicy food. I guess I have to go easy for the next few months. Boo. 3. I can't watch "A Baby Story" without being reduced to a sobbing mess. But I find myself turning the channel for the delivery part. 4. The placenta & baby (aka alien) are about the size of an avocado right now. 5. Our baby will have duel citizenship. Cool, huh?

A Hectic Spring

My leisurely Atlanta life is being uprooted and I'm heading to the frosty north. As scary as that sounds, I'm not terribly nervous.... yet . Anxious is a better word. "Things" have been in the works for months now, and though we're still ironing out the details, one thing is certain - change....otherwise known as the story of my life. I'm no stranger to "starting over." This will be the 4th time that I will change cities without having been there. Of course, the first one was when I was 6, but still.... I went to Las Vegas at 18, Austin at 23 and am now in Atlanta about to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of my 30th birthday. The last move was the toughest. Austin was and will always be my home. So much so, that ultimately Matt and I agree that's where we want to end up....again. Yeah, it was hard to put that aside long enough to g...

It's a girl!

22 weeks in and this little girl is growing like crazy! I've nicknamed her "the dancer" because it always feels like she's gettin' down. She put on quite the show at the ultrasound session. It was pretty amazing. Matt's paternal instinct immediately kicked in -- "I get to be mean to boys!" Love it. Now to give her a name....
